Last week saw the launch of a series of medico-legal seminars hosted by the Devon and Exeter Medico-legal Association (DEMLA).

DEMLA Burning Issues FLyerThe seminars have replaced the traditional bi-annual conference format in creating a modern and more focused platform from which to address the burning issues in medico-legal practice.

DEMLA have been successful in recruiting leading guest speakers in their field, beginning on 8 July 2008 with a presentation by David Johnstone from ‘Patients First UK’ on whistle-blowing in the post-Francis Report era.

The seminar will investigate shortfalls in current legislation regarding whistle-blowers, changes in the legal landscape around support and protection for whistle-blowers and the Francis Report recommendations.

All DEMLA members and non-members are welcomed. A listing for the first three seminars can be downloaded here (pdf).
