January 2016 sees the completion of Mr Stone's period of office as an Interim Orders Tribunal member with the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS).
Over the past four years, Mr Stone has sat both as a Fitness to Practise panellist and on the Interim Orders Panel of the MPTS, which has now been re-designated as the Interim Orders Tribunal. Mr Stone has gained a great deal of experience of, and insight into, the regulatory process, along with the proposed future section 60 changes.
Having now stepped down from his role with the MPTS, Mr Stone is able once again to accept instructions to prepare independent expert reports, either at the behest of plastic surgeons referred to the GMC or as an expert witness for the GMC.
This area of Mr Stone's medico-legal practice builds upon many years of clinical negligence and fitness to practise reporting, and develops further his interest in medical regulation arising from his medical law degree (LLM) in 2012.
